In 1989, Dr. Juan Abarca Campal and Dr. Carmen Cidón Tamargo started a new model of private medicine in Spain, namely: the HM hospitals. This hospitals operate as an integrated healthcare network which provides patients excellent health care and same procedures irrespective of their location. The hospitals also have a strong research activity in different areas as cancer, biomaterials, movement disorders and many more. They also have teaching activities, after an agreement with some Spanish universities as well as universities from abroad. Three thousand students a year do their practical training at HM hospitals.
